SOLARGENIUS Solar Water Heating

SOLARGENIUS Solar Water Heating System

SOLARGENIUS by LEAP harnesses clean, free solar energy to heat water quickly and effectively, even on cloudy days. Evacuated tubes have a vacuum that act as a super-efficient heat trap. Heat pipes located within the evacuated tubes then conduct the heat trapped within the tube up to the header to heat water.

The copper heat pipes are also evacuated and attached to aluminium nitride heat fins to maximise solar energy absorption and heat transfer. On a sunny day, these heat fins and heat pipes can exceed 150°C very quickly.

As the heat is conducted to the top of the solar panel, a solar controller senses the rise in temperature and moves water to the panel to be heated. The heated water is then circulated back to a storage hot water cylinder. A circulating pump moves the water to and from the panel. The system's solar controller and circulating pump together with any auxiliary heating keeps water in the hot water cylinder at a constant temperature - ensuring you have a reliable supply of hot water heated by the sun.

Solar water heating

  1. Evacuated heat tubes encased within aluminium heat fins contain pure water and additives within a vacuum for more effcient heat transfer. The evacuated glass tube vacuum acts as a super-efficient heat trap, aluminium nitride coated heat fins then absorb the solar energy
  2. Strong aluminium casing houses a copper manifold that is non-corrosive; the rockwool insulation provides excellent insulation against freezing and can withstand high temperatures up to 250°C
  3. Solar controller regulates circulation of solar water and prevents frost formation
  4. Safety relief solar valves ensure system doesn't reach dangerous pressures when water reaches high temperatures
  5. Insulated copper connection lines prevent heat losses to and from hot water cylinder
  6. Connect to a wetback for extra energy savings in winter (stainless steel hot water cylinders available for this purpose)
  7. Insulated hot water cylinder with electric booster ensures a constant supply of hot water, no matter what the weather (available with a heat exchanger for closed loop systems)
  8. Circulating pump uses minimum power to move water between solar panel and hot water cylinder

Solar Controller

The solar controller compares the temperature in the hot water cylinder with that in the solar panel and activates a pump to circulate heated water from the solar panel to the hot water cylinder when there is solar gain. It can also prevent frost formation in the system by activating the pump if the temperature of the collector falls below a predetermined level.
